Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce Make Disappointing Announcement on Tuesday
The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in the Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. While Kansas City Chief tight end Travis Kelce kept his initial postgame comments brief, he discussed the brutal defeat on “New Heights” with Jason Kelce, just three days later.
The 10-time Pro Bowler also addressed the elephant in the room, whether or not he’s planning to retire.
“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year, and right now I’m just kicking everything down the road,” Kelce said. “I’m kicking every can I can down the road.
“And I’m not making any crazy decisions, but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding that there’s a lot that goes into this thing.”
“I’ve played more football than anybody,” he said of making five Super Bowl appearances in seven seasons, “and it’s because the people that are in that building and the fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and these Super Bowls.
“And that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league, and that’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.”
The 35-year-old has kept a low profile since the Super Bowl. While fans looked forward to Travis and Jason’s new episode of “New Heights” on Feb. 19, the brothers shared some disappointing news on Tuesday.
The podcast posted, “No new episode this week, but WE’LL BE BACK with offseason episodes and amazing guests soon.” They shared an old, albeit fitting clip of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s appearance on the show to soften the blow.
One person posted, “🥲.” Another fan wrote, “Hope everyone is having a good break,” to which one woman responded, “This is a very mature response. Meanwhile me,” sharing a devastating cry GIF. One X user posted, “it’s giving – travis is far far away without reception.”
Multiple reports noted that Travis and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, planned to go on a vacation after the disappointing Super Bowl. The famous couple looked “forward to getting away from all the distractions and being by themselves,” a source told Page Six.
“Taylor and Travis are going to take some time away to vacation with just the two of them, talk about their future and just relax.”
