Sweet reason Princess Kate wears three poppies on Remembrance Sunday revealed
The Princess of Wales delighted royal fans today as she stepped out in London alongside the rest of the Royal Family to attend this year’s Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph.
Princess Kate looked stunning in an all-black ensemble as she stood in silence at 11am for the sombre ceremony on the central balcony overlooking the Cenotaph.
The future Queen stole the spotlight in what was her second appearance in a row at two major royal events.
However, it was Kate’s three Remembrance poppies which stood out today as she stood on the balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office next to the Duchess of Edinburgh.
The gesture is a sweet tribute to the princess’s great-grandmother’s three brothers, who lost their lives in the First World War.
Thousands of veterans lined up today in the middle of Whitehall as they prepared to take part in the Royal British Legion’s march past the Cenotaph.
A military band performed as it marched at the Parliament Square end of the central London street.
The streets were filled with thousands of of people who gathered to watch the sombre ceremony and pay their respect to all those lost while serving in the Armed Forces.
Remembrance Sunday is a major event in the UK, with the king leading senior royals, political leaders and envoys from the Commonwealth countries that fought alongside Britain in the two world wars in laying wreaths at the Cenotaph, the Portland stone memorial in central London that serves as the focal point for honoring the nation’s war dead.
