Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker-Bowles has revealed his true feelings about not being given a royal title.
The 49-year-old food writer is the Queen’s eldest child from her first marriage to retired Army officer Andrew Parker-Bowles. Tom was thrust into royal circles when his mother married the-then-Prince Charles in 2005.
And while Charles’s ascension to the throne has meant his mother has become Queen, while his step-siblings Prince William and Prince Harry were born into the Royal Family, Tom and his sister Laura don’t get titles.
Interviewing Tom on the News Agents podcast in 2023, journalist Emily Maitlis asked: “You call King Charles your stepdad and pause before saying the Queen, what do you become?”

To which Tom replied: “I become nothing. There would be a revolution if they started handing them out to people like me. Why would I expect a title?”
Podcast host Emily went on to ask Tom if he found it “weird” to think about his mum being the Queen.
He responded: “Not really, because she is still our mother. I say our not speaking as the royal we, but speaking for my sister and me.
“She is our mother and change happens but I don’t care what anyone says, this wasn’t any sort of end game, she married the person she loved and this is what happened.
Tom recently revealed the King’s cancer treatment was “going well” six months after his diagnosis was announced. He also praised his mother, saying she’s “tough”, as she prepares to embark on a scaled-down tour of Australia with her husband.
Throughout his career as a writer, Tom has written a number of cookbooks with his most recent publication, Cooking and the Crown: Royal recipes from Queen Victoria to King Charles III, being released this week. He will be appearing on Saturday Kitchen today with host Matt Tebbutt and fellow guests Dina Macki, Helen McGinn.
