Charlotte’s classmates have given her a cute name of their own.

Having a short, playful name is a part of friendship, even for the royals. The young Princess Charlotte, despite her Royal status as third in line to the throne, is no different and she has been given a charming ‘diminutive’ by her chums – a short, endearing version of her own name. Keen on giving their daughter a slice of normal life, Prince William and Princess Kate ensure that nine year old Princess Charlotte experiences an upbringing typical for a girl her age.

She’s known as Charlotte Cambridge at school, reflecting her parents’ connection to the title, but her friends have given her an affectionate ‘diminutive’ that she’s totally smitten with. Rumour has it that they’ve playfully dubbed her Lottie Wales, harking back to her parents ducal titles bestowed by the King upon the Queen’s death. It appears that Charlotte’s school pals aren’t the only ones who use this cute name.
On a trip to Northern Ireland,

Instagrammer Laura-Ann met the Duchess of Cambridge and told how Kate addressed her two year old son George. Greeting him, the Duchess remarked: “Hello, what’s your name? Hi George, what a cool name you’ve got, and you look very smart in your bowtie. It’s very nice to meet you.”

Laura-Ann, a Belfast-based estate agent and mother of two, had set out to see Kate and Prince William at Windsor Park. Sharing her Royal encounter on Instagram, she reported that during their chat,Kate inquired about her other son, Bertie, four, revealing a sweet little detail about her own daughter.

Her words were: “So then she asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie’. She calls her Lottie!” According to Vanity Fair’s Royal guru Katie Nicholl, Charlotte’s lively spirit has earned her the nickname “Warrior Princess” by her family.

In 2018, Kate was overheard during a trip to The Range. A shopper told the Daily Mail that she called out to Charlotte, saying, ‘get up poppet.’

It’s not just Charlotte with the cute names, though. George and Louis have their own casual titles, too. At Thomas’s School in Battersea, Prince George is just ‘George’, keeping it low-key among his classmates.

At home, the Duke and Duchess have playfully dubbed him PG which evolves into “Tips”, tipping the hat to PG Tips tea. And remember when fans affectionately called the littlest one Boss Baby? It seems Prince Louis ‘ strong-willed nature may well have inspired that one.
