Prince William is likely to side-step an awkward run-in with brother Harry by avoiding a major royal event later this month.

The feuding siblings reunited at their uncle Sir Robert Fellowes’ memorial service on Thursday but that coming together clearly hasn’t bridged the gap between them. The royals plan to steer clear of each other when they’re both in New York later this month, it has been reported.
They stood practically “back to back” without speaking to another at a memorial service for their late uncle, sources have claimed. The memorial, held in Snettisham, Norfolk, on Thursday, saw the two standing just “five yards” apart, but reportedly did not exchange a single word.

William and Harry will not come face-to-face in the Big Apple despite a high profile event being held to mark the death of their mother, the late Princess Diana. Harry, 39, is likely to make a solo appearance at the Diana Award, a ceremony marking the 27th anniversary of the Paris crash.

The Duke will be in Manhattan to advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives. His trip is set to take place during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, the latter of which runs from September 22 until September 29.

But it appears that the Prince of Wales, 42, has decided against appearing at the Earthshot Innovation Summit scheduled to take place at the Plaza Hotel a matter of minutes away on September 24. It is claimed William will likely send a video message instead and not be there in person.
It’s a shame that the brothers can’t put everything behind them for an event remembering their mother,” a source told the Express. “But it looks like William won’t be making his way to New York this month as he already has other plans in place.”

Prince William kicked off the competition back in 2020, with the primary aim of sparking impactful and sustainable solutions to some of the planet’s most pressing environmental issues, including conservation, deforestation, and climate change. As part of the yearly contest, the Prince intends to hand out £1 million Earthshot Prizes across five categories each year until 2030.

A source told The Sunday Times earlier this month that it’s been “two years” since they last spoke at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. One insider described the brothers’ estrangement as “dreadfully sad”, pointing out that Prince William has had more urgent matters to deal with this year, following the cancer diagnoses of both his father, King Charles, and wife, Kate Middleton.
