Prince Harry’s furious four-word response when Charles ‘banned’ Meghan from Balmoral

Prince Harry was furious upon learning that his wife, Meghan Markle, wouldn’t be allowed to accompany him to Balmoral in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. The Duke of Sussex, who rushed to Scotland to be with his grandmother on her final day, intended to bring Meghan along.

However, the younger royal brother said King Charles made it explicitly clear Meghan wasn’t welcome. In his bombshell memoir Spare, Harry recounted: “He said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn’t want… her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn’t having it.”
Harry fiercely defended his wife, asserting: “Don’t ever speak about my wife that way… He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn’t want a lot of people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn’t coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn’t. Then that’s all you needed to say,” reports the Mirror.

While Prince William headed to Balmoral with uncles Prince Andrew and Edward, as well as Duchess Sophie, Kate Middleton remained behind to care for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, due to their first school day at Lambrook on September 8. Kate prioritised being there for them, highlighting the significance of support during such a pivotal moment.

The Queen passed away peacefully at 3.10pm on 8 September, 2022. Among her family, only Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne had the chance to see her before she passed away; coincidentally, they were already in Scotland for other commitments.

William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrived at 3.50pm, a heartbreaking 40 minutes after her passing. Harry, on the other hand, departed from Luton airport on a private jet around 5.30pm and was still mid-flight when the announcement of the Queen’s death was made at 6.30pm.

The Duke has since revealed that he discovered his grandmother’s passing after checking the internet while onboard. In his book, Harry shared that he had been reminiscing about his last encounter with the Queen and their conversation, when he received a notification on his phone.

“When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up,” he recalled. “It was a message from Meg: ‘Call me when you get this.’ I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was King.” Harry also disclosed how, upon his arrival at Balmoral, his aunt Princess Anne guided him upstairs to “Granny’s bedroom” so he could pay his respects.
