Prince Harry ‘offended’ as family ‘cut ties’ on 40th birthday in brutal blow
Prince Harry will be disheartened by the lack of contact he will receive on his 40th birthday, an expert has claimed. The Duke of Sussex will turn 40 on September 15 and will likely be surrounded by his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie, five and Lilibet, three.
However, he won’t be with his father, King Charles or his brother, Prince William. Since Harry stepped down from royal duties and moved to California with Meghan, 43, it is believed contact between him and other members of the royal family has been sparse.
When Harry celebrated his 39th birthday last year, his big day went without social media tributes from the royal family. The question remains whether the royal family will publicly acknowledge Harry this time around.
Royal expert Lydia Alty has suggested Harry will be “offended” by the royal family’s silence on his special day, espeically publicly.
Lydia told Express.co.uk: “Personally, given the fact that Meghan and Harry enjoy attention, I think he will be disappointed. Back when they stepped down from the royal family, Harry and Meghan claimed they were leaving due to privacy, but now they are in front of the camera and at awards nights more than they would be if they were still working royals.
The working royals get more privacy than they do, even though they do more engagements and serve the UK and Commonwealth. Therefore, I believe Harry will be offended by their silence – especially publicly!”
While Harry will be surrounded by his immediate family, the question remains whether the dad-of-two will still feel a sense of lonliness on his birthday. “I think he will feel lonely,” Lydia declared. “As much as he despises his family’s rules and what not, I think that he will feel alone.”
The royal expert continued: “He used to be close with his brother and immediate family, but now being thousands of miles away, I think he will struggle a lot.”
Lydia said that although Harry will be happy with his family, he will “likely miss being closer to other members of his family and celebrating with them”.
She added: “It may even make him feel envious of Prince William’s 40th when he celebrated with his family when he turned 40 back in 2022. You could imagine him making comparisons.” The Royal Family’s official social media made sure to wish William a happy 40th birthday with a heartwarming thread.
“Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge! As the second in line to the throne turns 40, learn more about His Royal Highness,” they wrote as they shared a brief timeline of William’s life.
