Prince Harry is “doing tremendously well” as he remains apart from his wife Meghan Markle, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex recently attended the WellChild Awards in London, an event close to his heart, without his wife by his side.

Following this, Harry swiftly travelled to South Africa, where he was warmly welcomed on Tuesday. He was pictured with Princess Senate Seeiso of Lesotho, just hours after departing London.

Speaking on GB News host Emily Carver pointed out that the duke has been doing these events solo and royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “I think all these events have gone off tremendously well. They’ve been uncontroversial.

“He hasn’t given any interviews. Perhaps something is being planned that we are unaware of.

“His next docuseries for Netflix on Polo apparently doesn’t feature him much, so what we’re waiting to see is how this will be developing in the weeks and months.

“Will there be some more tours? They’ve been, of course, to Nigeria and he and Meghan most recently to Latin America.

“So is this part and parcel of a new strategy? Whereas Meghan develops her cooking side on Netflix, and Harry does more solo.”

The prince’s visit to southern Africa is centred around his charity work with Sentebale, which he co-founded in 2006.

This organisation, meaning “forget me not” in Sesotho, aims to support disadvantaged children in Lesotho and Botswana.

Harry’s solo appearances have become more frequent, with recent engagements in New York and California also undertaken alone.

The Duchess of Sussex, meanwhile, has not travelled to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

She appears to be focusing on separate projects, including her American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand and a forthcoming cookery show for Netflix.

This shift in approach comes after setbacks in their joint ventures, including being dropped by Spotify.

Experts suggest that Harry’s recent activities reflect a focus on philanthropy and projects linked to his royal past.

Victoria Murphy, a royal author and broadcaster, noted: “What Harry seems to be doing is focusing on philanthropy.

“His most successful projects, the ones that resonate the most with people are the ones that were set up when he was a working royal.”
