The Kansas City Chiefs won’t be meeting President Donald Trump as a group this year following their loss at Super Bowl 39 earlier this month, but it hardly means they can’t hold court with him individually.
That recently turned out to be the case, with one such player meeting up with the 78-year-old before the Philadelphia Eagles even got to go.
The Super Bowl winners have an official invitation to visit the White House following their win at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9. Contrary to rumors, they will not decline the opportunity despite having done so in 2018.
In the meantime, kicker Harrison Butker, who was the source of major controversy ahead of last season after making a commencement speech at Benedictine College, has spent some time with the President.
Butker, a devout Catholic, received plenty of criticism for telling women that they should prioritize being homemakers as it’s their highest calling.
“It’s a decision I’ve consciously made and one I do not regret at all,” he told reporters during Super Bowl Week in New Orleans.

The kicker was welcomed to the White House this Thursday, with Trump’s assistant, Margo Martin, revealing as much by sharing a photo of them to social media.
“The GOAT of kicking @buttkicker7 meets the GOAT of Presidents @realDonaldTrump,” she wrote as the caption.

As to what they discussed is unclear.
Meanwhile, Trump supported the Chiefs last season and predicted that they would win a third straight Super Bowl, dishing out a lot of praise for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He also became the first sitting American President to attend the big game, although he was only around for the first half.
The Chiefs ended up losing 40-22 as the Eagles put on a clinic.
The winners will visit the official presidential residence soon.
