NFLBREAKING:Patrick Mahomes Breaks Down Talking About Baby No. 3 — And Reveals the Moment He Knew He Was a “Different Father” It happened during a 3AM bottle feed…SEE MORE
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be best known for his rocket arm and championship rings, but during a heartfelt moment in a recent interview, it was his role off the field — as a father — that brought him to tears.
Sitting down for an exclusive with Gridiron Life Magazine, Mahomes opened up about welcoming his third child with wife Brittany earlier this summer. The usually composed MVP got visibly emotional when recalling the quiet, intimate hours that come with parenting a newborn.
“I was holding her, just this tiny, squirming bundle at 3AM, and I was half-asleep trying to get the bottle right,” Mahomes said, his voice cracking. “And then she just looked up at me. That look… it hit different. That was the moment. I realized I wasn’t the same dad I was with Sterling or Bronze.”
The Turning Point
Mahomes explained that when his first child, Sterling Skye, was born in 2021, he was still adjusting to the chaos of balancing his rising stardom with family life.

I was learning how to be a dad while learning how to be the face of a franchise,” he said. “By the time Bronze came along, I thought I had it down — diaper changes, nighttime routines, all of it. But with baby No. 3, something shifted. I’m calmer now. More present. That 3AM feed wasn’t just a chore — it was a moment of connection. I realized I was showing up in a new way.”
A Softer Side of Mahomes
Fans are used to seeing Mahomes commanding the field, but those closest to him say fatherhood has softened the superstar in the best way.
“Pat’s a natural,” Brittany Mahomes shared. “He’s always been amazing with the kids, but lately he’s been more in tune with their emotions. He doesn’t just show up — he engages. Even after a tough game, he’ll be the one up at night holding the baby or telling stories to the older kids.”
That dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed in the locker room either. Teammates say Mahomes’ leadership has deepened as his role as a father has grown.
“He’s more patient. He listens more. I think being a dad to three kids has made him an even better captain,” said Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “Plus, he’s got the dad jokes down.”
