Mike Tindall’s blunt remark that shows his true feelings about Prince Harry
It is no secret that Prince Harry’s relations with some of the other senior royals have been strained in recent years.
Since quitting the UK and starting a new life in California, the Duke of Sussex has been candid about the things he found difficult about living inside the monarchy – and he has only been reunited with his family a handful of times at royal events. One of these was the celebrations to mark the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee back in 2022.
Meghan Markle accompanied Harry to a Service of Thanksgiving for the former monarch at St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the couple watched Trooping the Colour from the Major General’s Office alongside some of the royal youngsters – including Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughters – as non-working royals. After their brief appearance alongside their royal relatives at the Service of Thanksgiving, after which the Sussexes were pictured standing with Zara – the daughter of Princess Anne – and her husband Mike, reports have claimed the former rugby player had a choice word when discussing Prince Harry, and the Duke’s behaviour towards the House of Windsor.
The comment was reported to have been made at the Platinum Party at the Palace, where Mike allegedly described Harry’s behaviour as being that of a “b*****d” to another guest at the concert. Harry and Meghan did not attend the concert itself, where Mike was sitting just a row behind Prince William and Princess Kate – with whom he is known to be close, the Prince and Princess of Wales even appearing on his podcast together.
In a book recently released that was co-authored by Mike and his fellow podcast hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne – titled The Good, the Bad & the Rugby: Unleashed – Mike spent an entire chapter dispelling myths about the Royal Family, and what being married into the institution is really like.
Mike described the late Queen Elizabeth as being much more normal behind closed doors than the public may imagine, and also said that in his experience, marrying into the House of Windsor had been pretty easy and that he had been “completely” accepted by his in-laws. “Believe it or not, marrying into the Royal Family was pretty easy for me. They were always nice to me, and I was always nice to them. Simple really,” Mike wrote.
Zara and Mike first got together in 2003, after meeting during the Rugby World Cup, the couple married in July 2011, and have since welcomed three children: Mia, 10, Lena, five, and Lucas, two, and the family lives on Gatcombe Park – Princess Anne’s estate.
