Meghan’s two word response to Royal
Since stepping back as working royals, both Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have revealed a lot about the inner turmoil they experienced in the House of Windsor.
From their bombshell interview with Oprah in 2021, all the way to Harry’s bestselling memoir Spare, the couple have opened up about the difficulties they faced as working royals and the disagreements they have had with some of the other senior royals. During their chat with Oprah, Meghan debunked a widely reported story that she had made Kate cry in the lead-up to the Sussex’s 2018 wedding and instead claimed that it had been the other way around, with Kate leaving her in tears.

However, the Duchess also noted that Kate had apologised, and was a “good person” and also went on to point out that there she had noticed a “polarity” in which royal fans set the two women against each other. “If you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t need to hate me,” Meghan said.
However, unease between the Sussex camp and the rest of the royals has continued. Shortly after the release of Harry’s memoir – in which he alleged his brother Prince William had physically attacked him during a confrontation over Meghan at the Duke’s former home of Nottingham Cottage, and detailed the awkward relations he and his wife had experienced with William and Kate – the couple were “evicted” from their UK home of Frogmore Cottage.
Meghan Markle must make one huge move to heal rift with Kate and William, expert warns
Meghan has rarely returned to the UK since the couple’s royal exit, except to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee – who she has also spoken of in the highest terms – and she also accompanied her husband to the late Queen’s funeral. Back in 2022, Meghan sat down with The Cut, to promote her new podcast series Archetypes, which was set to be launched at the time, and summed up in two words just how she felt about the other royals, and her experiences living in the UK: “still healing”
The comment came after she had noted that she had no legal barrier to expressing her perspective on her time inside the monarchy, “It’s interesting, I’ve never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking. I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to,” Meghan commented.
