Meghan and Harry fans pinpoint moment they ‘became threat to royals’ in resurfaced clip
Fans of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have highlighted the moment they think the pair ‘became a threat’ to the Royal Family, and one expert declared it a ‘triumph’
Royal enthusiasts reckon they’ve found the moment Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started posing a ‘threat’ to the royals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their official duties in 2020, subsequently moving to Montecito, California. They live in a sprawling mansion there to this day with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
But before this transition, the couple conducted official tours, just like other members of the Firm, and proved very popular. In one memorable instance in 2018, the pair paid a visit to Fiji where their reception was marked by significant fanfare. At the time, the official Fiji Government account reported on social media: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the night for thousands of Fijians as they waved from the balcony of the historic Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva City.”
Now a clip of the occasion has resurfaced, with staunch supporters of the Sussexes insisting no other members of the Royal Family have experienced such an exuberant reception since. One supporter declared: “And it was at this precise moment that Meghan Markle (and Prince Harry) became a threat to Prince William & Kate Middleton.
“Meghan and Harry were feted and it began dramatically with Meghan announcing her pregnancy. This was their first official tour after they married and it was regarded as proof the couple were an amazing draw and would be a huge hit in the Commonwealth.
“Theories that they were some form of threat are probably influenced by the hostility between Charles and Diana on their 1983 Antipodean tour where he resented the scale of attention she received.
“It was always thought the Sussexes would be a hit on tour, he was extremely popular, she was thought to be experienced in public and their partnership appeared an ideal one for representing the crown abroad. There was no intimation then of what was to come.”
King Charles and Queen Camilla have recently been met with a lukewarm reception during their state visit to Australia, with a scheduled reception in Canberra receiving cold shoulders from state premiers who declined invites due to prior commitments. Buckingham Palace has confirmed the monarch will speak to community and political leaders at the event amidst Australian media calling the premiers’ absences an “insult” to the Royal couple.
