Lip Readers Decode Kate Middleton’s Surprising Answer When Asked What She Really Thinks of Prince William’s Beard

Several members of the royal family attended the Remembrance Sunday ceremony including the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) who appeared on the balcony of the Foreign Office during wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.

Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh stood in for Queen Camilla alongside Kate. Camilla has been recovering from a chest infection and therefore her medical team advised that she skip the ceremony this year.

Kate, who announced in September that she was “cancer-free,” has made a handful of public appearances after she shared her initial diagnosis in March. Some royal watchers opinied that she looked a bit nervous during the somber event and turned to Sophie as a source of comfort.

Body language expert and author Judi James said the Duchess of Edinburgh’s support for the Princess of Wales was evident when Sophie was seen placing a supportive hand on Catherine’s back. Speaking to Express, James called that a “symbolic gesture” marking a milestone in Kate’s return to royal duties following her cancer treatment.

“It was a small gesture of affection that could also have signalled ‘well done’ to Kate as she reached another milestone in her royal return,” James said.

At another point during the ceremony professional lip readers Nicola Hickling and Kayleigh Harris decoded what Kate and Sophie were chatting about while standing together and noted that Prince William’s beard was the topic of their conversation.
According to Hickling, the royal ladies engaged in a light-hearted conversation before it was time to observe the two-minute silence as Sophie asked Kate, “You like a beard?” to which the princess replied: “I find it quite rousing.” Sophie then said, “You’re all better now” as they both laughed.

However, Harris wasn’t in agreement as she saw the Princess of Wales’ answer a bit differently. Harris told The Sun, that Kate responded to Sophie’s question by saying Prince William’s beard is “never quite rounded,” as opposed to “I find it quite rousing.”

We do know that not everyone in the Wales’ family approved of William’s beard initally. In fact, Princess Charlotte disliked it so much that she burst into tears the first time she saw her dad with facial hair.

In an interview during his trip to South Africa, William revealed that Princess Charlotte cried when she first saw it, which prompted him to go back to a clean shave for a while.

Express noted that when William was asked if the family liked his new look, he responded: “Well Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, so I had to shave it off.”

The Prince of Wales then explained that he decided to bring it back and had a talk with his daughter to see if he could finally get her to accept it.

“Then I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second and I convinced her it was going to be OK,” he said.
