Kim Kardashian is sharing some insight into her family’s holiday plans — and why one family tradition might look a bit different in 2024.

The entrepreneur, 44, revealed in an interview with Vogue at the grand opening of her New York City SKIMS store on Thursday, Dec. 12 that the Kardashian-Jenner family is eyeing a “really lowkey” gathering on Dec. 24 this time around, rather than their usual lavish annual Christmas Eve get-together.

“Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we’re doing a really family intimate one that I’m really excited about,” Kardashian said.

“Still dressing up to the nines, because that’s what we do,” she added.

As Kardashian detailed, her family has had “some legendary Christmas Eve parties” over the years — from an estimated $1.3 million winter wonderland in 2018 to a 2022 get-together that featured a performance from Sia to the family’s latest Christmas Eve bash, which featured an apparent ski-lodge theme.

“They’re just beginning,” Kardashian told Vogue of the headline-making festivities. “Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition.”

Historically held at Kris Jenner’s Calabasas mansion and getting its start in 1978, the annual Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party has since transformed into a major get-together that’s held at the homes of other family members, including that of Kourtney Kardashian Barker.

Other famous faces have made appearances at the gathering, with John Legend performing some holiday tunes back in 2018, and additional attendees over the years having included Drake, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez.

Back in November, Kim began preparing for the holidays when she showed off her faux snow-covered Christmas tree on her Instagram Stories. The towering decoration appeared to reach the second floor of Kim’s California home, and she soundtracked a photo of the decor to the seasonal song “Twinkling Lights” by Auni.

Her sister Khloé, 40, also gave fans a sneak peek at how she decorated her own home in her Instagram Stories on Dec. 2. At the time, the Good American co-founder showed off some green trees covered in white lights, revealing that she got decorating help from Butterfly Floral & Event Design.

“You guys have no idea how happy this season makes me,” The Kardashians star told fans on Snapchat. “December is my favorite month.

Beyond celebrating the holidays, Kim has also been celebrating her kids this month. She marked her son Saint West’s 9th birthday with a few Instagram photos of them snuggling together on Dec. 5. The entrepreneur and Kardashians star shares Saint — as well as daughters North, 11, and Chicago, 6, and son Psalm, 5 — with ex Kanye West.

“My birthday boy Saint turns 9 today. I was going through my photos and most of our pics are snuggling cuddling pics,” Kim wrote in an Instagram caption.

“I always wanna believe that my little man will be this snuggly forever!” she added. “So cheers to one of my soulmates for being the sweetest boy. Happy birthday. I love you.”
