JUST IN:Melania Trump designer’s shock three-word reaction to first lady’s bold leopard print look…see more
A designer who sent a coat to Melania Trump was left surprised when the first lady wound up wearing it at a recent event. The first lady, whose tiny dress size was recently revealed, wore the bold item, a leopard-print coat, during a “fierce” appearance at the International Women of Courage Award Ceremony.
And while she isn’t the only member of her family to grab headlines with a bold choice lately, she is the latest one to surprise the designer of the item she wore.
Designer Milly Park, who is based in Palm Beach, Florida, sent the first lady’s leopard-print coat and two other pieces as a gift to her at the Mar-A-Lago estate in December. The leopard-print calfskin coat, which featured in Park’s runway show a month ago, is from her fall collection and retails for $11,000.
While she knew she had sent the coat to the first lady, Park was surprised to see that she actually wore it at the event, and was unaware it was going to be worn until she saw it in photos.
“I didn’t know,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’ve been so busy.”
Trump wore the coat just days after she was spotted in New York alongside her 19-year-old son
She also expressed joy that the piece was worn by the first lady.
“I’m beyond honored and shocked that the first lady wore my piece today,” she said. “This is something to be celebrated about.
Trump wore the coat just days after she was spotted in New York alongside her 19-year-old son, Barron, as they arrived at Trump Tower over the weekend.
Wearing a grey sweater and sunglasses as she walked into the skyscraper, it was her son that commanded attention with his look.
Wearing black pants and a shirt with a blue bomber jacket, Barron drew attention for the Rolex watch he wore at the time.
It was identified as a yellow gold watch from the Daytona collection.
It has an estimated retail price of $50,000.
