Elsa Pataky is sharing secrets to her nearly 15-year-long marriage to Chris Hemsworth.

Pataky, 48, sat down with Hello magazine for an interview published on Wednesday, April 30, in which she dished on her love for horseback riding and life with Hemsworth, whom she met in 2010 and married by the end of that year. The couple share three children: daughter India, who turns 13 on May 11, as well as twins Sasha and Tristan, who both turned 11 on March 18.

“Marriage needs constant work, and you learn a lot from the rough patches,” Pataky said, when asked about her bond to Hemsworth. “You have to try to keep growing together, making sure that your paths carry on crossing.”

“It’s about finding the fun, enjoying the little moments and remaining curious about each other. You have to be ready to adapt, and because there are situations that separate you, you need to know how to find each other again,” she added.

Pataky, a Spanish actress who broke into American movies with her role in the Fast & Furious franchise as Elena Neves, first met Hemsworth in 2010 when they were introduced by a talent agent. The couple hit it off quickly and made their red carpet debut together by September of that year; they tied the knot over the 2010 Christmas holiday.

“It’s always been his sense of humor,” Pataky told Hello, when asked what she admires most about her husband. “If a situation becomes tense, he can always make me laugh.”

Pataky noted elsewhere in her interview that she and Hemsworth have held a rule that they try not to be apart from each other for more than two weeks. “We try, although it’s harder now,” she said, when asked if the couple still adhere to that rule. “Because the children are older and have opinions on what they want to do, whereas when they’re little, you can take them with you wherever you want.”

Pataky last appeared on the big screen in 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which her husband co-headlined alongside Anya-Taylor Joy as a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
