Tiger Woods has revealed his true feelings on Donald Trump after the President of the United States was accused of ‘lying and cheating’ during a golf match.

Back in 2017, during his first term as President, Trump reportedly invited golf legends Woods, Dustin Johnson and Brad Faxon for a two-v-two match.

Trump teamed up with Faxon to take on Woods and Johnson in the blockbuster game.

According to author Rick Reilly in his book ‘Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump’, Trump and Faxon were allowed to hit off the middle tees and the 78-year-old also had a stroke taken away on the course’s hardest holes.

Speaking about the match, Faxon explained the apparent cheating tactics Trump used to beat Woods.

As reported by The Express, he said: “On this one hole, Donald hits his second and fats it into the water. But he quickly says to me, ‘Hey, throw me another ball; they weren’t looking.’ So I do. But he fats that one into the water, too. So he drives up and drops where he should’ve dropped the first time and hits it on the green.

“It was really fun to play with him. He rakes every putt [as if it’s conceded], but you kind of want him to. You’ve heard so much about it, it’s almost like you want to witness it so you can tell the stories.”

Speaking about Trump last month, Woods was very positive about the President’s involvement in golf.

He said: “I think we’re in a very positive place right now. We had a meeting with the President. Unfortunately, I had some other circumstances that came up, but Jay (Monahan, PGA Tour commissioner) and Adam (Scott, PGA player director), they did great during the meeting and we have another subsequent meeting coming up.

“I think that things are going to heal quickly. We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. It’s been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years. The fans want all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen.”

Monahan and Scott, along with LIV Golf chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan, held a meeting with Trump last month as they continue their bid to strike a deal between US-based DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the backers of the controversial LIV Golf circuit.

Al-Rumayyan hailed Trump’s leadership as both parties initiated a ‘discussion about the reunification of golf’.

Meanwhile, Trump himself stated that he held ‘interesting discussions’ as part of an effort to resolve the differences between the PGA Toyr and LIV Golf.

As reported by Sky Sports News, the PGA Tour claimed that after a meeting with Trump, a deal with LIV Golf was edging closer.
