How King Charles “Leaves the Door Open” for a Possible Prince Harry Reconciliation
Harry’s recent visits back home might allow him and Charles to repair their burned bridges.
Though the royal rift between Prince Harry, Prince William and their father King Charles continues to wage on, there are some hints that conditions are softening—åt least a little—between Harry and his father, and his recent visits to the U.K. are a major hint.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun that Harry’s recent visits, which included appearing at the funeral for his uncle Lord Fellowes and his forthcoming attendance at the 2024 WellChild Awards on September 30, are a step in the right direction. “Well, he does seem to be coming quite often, doesn’t he? Which in some ways is a good sign, I think,” he told the outlet.
Vickers continued, “If he keeps coming, at least there is a chance at some stage he’ll meet up with his father, and you know, maybe this can be a step towards some sort of reconciliation…I think there’s quite a long way to go, but it’s nice that he feels he can come here anyway.”
Should there be an attempt to make contact, Vickers shared that it will be in Charles’s hands: “If the King wishes to see him, he will arrange to see him,” Vickers said. “If he doesn’t wish to see him, he’ll be too busy. Simple as that.”

Another great sign that the royal rift is beginning to thaw is that both William and Charles extended birthday wishes to Harry for his 40th birthday. Though the message was “fairly formal,” it shows, according to Vickers, that “the King certainly leaves the door open for him.” The expert added, “I think it’s much more likely that he’ll have a meeting with the King.”
Reconciliation between Harry and William is less likely, though—”I don’t think there’s any particular wish on Prince William’s behalf to see his brother. I mean they were both at [their uncle] Lord Fellowes’ funeral, or memorial service, in Norfolk recently,” Vickers said. “They didn’t actually speak so no, I don’t think there will be any particular wish for them to get together.”
