Sarah Ferguson’s secret power in Prince Andrew row as royals fear ‘real threat’
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have maintained an incredibly close relationship since their divorce and their surprising living arrangement has raised eyebrows at times.
Fergie has defended her ex husband ever since he stepped back from public life in 2019 after his ‘car crash’ Newsnight interview where he adressed his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew appears to be refusing to budge on moving – his lease is with the Crown Estate, not King Charles himself – but for now at least Andrew and Fergie are still sharing the property, which may at least have one surprising benefit to the monarchy, a royal expert has claimed.
However, Sarah might be more likely to spill the beans, the author claimed, making her the true “threat” to the Royal Family. “Yes he knows a lot but I doubt he would ever talk. He’s told them all to Fergie and she’s the real threat which is why the family are keen to keep her on side,” the expert said.
Ensuring that Sarah has a secure place to live, could well be part of keeping relations good between the royals and Sarah – who is mother to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who are ninth and 11th in line to the throne respectively.
Fergie herself has previously said that after her split from Andrew, the most important thing to her was her relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth, who she has called “more mother than mother-in-law” and her “greatest mentor”. In a sit-down with Harpers Bazaar in 2007, Sarah revealed that after her divorce, the late Queen asked her what she wanted, and she replied “Friendship, not money.”
