Moment Prince Harry left ‘red with anger’ as Meghan does impression
When Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry released their documentary series for Netflix, royal fans were treated to never-before-seen insight into their love story. One moment generated a lot of controversy at the time of the series release, which saw Meghan describe her very first meeting with the late Queen Elizabeth, Harry’s grandmother.
In the scene, Meghan described her emotions around meeting the ever-popular monarch, and realising that she would have to learn how to curtsy – following royal protocol. She explained that she didn’t know the introduction was to happen until mere moments before hand, explaining: “And I remember we were in the car and we were driving up and he’s like ‘You know how to curtsy right?’ And I just thought it was a joke.”
She added, “Now I’m starting to realize this is a big deal,” and explained her main reference point for curtsying was Medieval Times, and then plunged into a deep, over the top, bow, and light-heartedly said whilst laughing: “Pleasure to meet you, your Majesty.”
Meeting your in-laws is always a bit nerve-wracking, but Meghan noted adding in the pressure to get the curtsy right, that the experience was “so intense”.
Harry also admitted that it was ” weird ” having to explain to Meghan that she would have to curtsy and how to do it correctly, “How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother and that you will need to curtsy? Especially to an American. Like, that’s weird”.
Per The Express, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said that in her opinion, it seemed like Meghan was “playing dumb” and said that Harry’s expression when Meghan did the impression of the bow “says it all”.
