This week, the Prince and Princess of Wales changed the profile picture on their Instagram page, which previously featured a striking photo of the couple laughing and holding hands. Now, their profile picture is a more serious snapshot.

Prince William and Princess Catherine changed the photo in honor of Remembrance Day, which is an annual U.K. holiday that marks the end of World War I. The new pic was taken one year ago at The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall, which took place on—you guessed it—November 11 (aka Remembrance Day).
The profile update shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to royal aficionados because the royal couple has changed their profile picture every year ahead of the holiday. If history repeats itself, the new photo’s days are numbered. Because in about a week, the original picture will return.

The royal family has continued this tradition for several years in honor of the annual holiday. They also wear red poppy brooches for the entire month of November to commemorate military members who have died in war.
Even Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, wore red poppy brooches during a surprise virtual appearance this week. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in a video that was shown at the Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia. In a surprising move, the couple paid tribute to the royal family and their British connection by pinning poppy brooches to their lapels.
